Idol: Skylark Falls...

so, Skylark falls. whatever...

Mississippi's Skylar Laine got the boot from TV singing competition "American Idol" on Thursday, leaving the show with a rousing performance of country singer Miranda Lambert's "Gunpowder and Lead."

On Wednesday's performance episode of American Idol, judge Jennifer Lopez had praised Laine's energetic performance of Credence Clearwater Revival's "Fortunate Son." However, Skylar's rendition of "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me,the Dusty Springfield classic, was not her finest performance. Mentor Jimmy Iovine thought it was one of her weakest performances of the season.

Fellow contestant Hollie Cavanagh, also among this week's bottom two singers,
wowed the judges and audience alike on Wednesday with her rousing rendition of Tina Turner's "River Deep Mountain High."
Contestants sang hits from the 1960s, followed by songs by British artists on Wednesday, and "Idol" got a visit from one it most famous past winners, country songstress Carrie Underwood on Thursday elimination episode.
Underwood performed the title track from her album "Blown Away."  Coldplay sang their song "Paradise," and came back later in the show for an encore performance.

Four contestants remain on "Idol" heading toward the show's finale later this month.

Skyler will be fine and dandy nestled in the arms of country radio.

Some people are up in the air about Phillip Phillips, others have chosen to throw some hate his way – not me. I love his bluesy soulful vibe and when he "funks" the music up, guitar in tow. keep hatin' on Phil and acting like pouting middle school girls who don't get their way. Maybe you haven't realized yet that the more Phillip gets "dissed," the more his army rises up, the more votes he receives.

and, I agree. Wednesday night was most certainly not his best moment, not even close, but the others pale in comparison with his artistic sensibility. Jessica's music is the equivalent of mediocre karaoke. but, I will give her this, with proper vocal training and lassoing in the endless embellishments, she definitely has star potential. Just don't think she is quite there yet. so, yes, she is extremely talented with a boat-load of potential, however Elise is far and above Jessica with regard to vocal maturity. Same can be argued about Holly, though she is consistently improving.

(Someone actually posted this on another blog.)
"So, I’m basically on the anybody-but-phil train"

Seriously? Seriously. Grow Up.

So, thoughts? anyone?
